understanding shared Living
There is a serious situation that has developed due to the many factors that govern human decisions and behaviours. ABCs strives to listen to and understand people and the factors that drive us.
In this post we want to address the benefits and the issues that surface in shared living/roommate circumstances.
Our mission is to challenge the status quo by embracing an innovative approach to legal agreements. We are blazing a way to better norms. Pushing for higher standards. Driven by a vision to inspire change, push boundaries, and open the world to ideas that will make a powerful difference.

BENEFITS of shared Living
Shared living can generate a number of benefits to all of us sharing a home. Benefits such as shared meals, allows us to all eat home cooked meal 7 days a week, yet we are only responsible to prepare 1 or 2 meal, maybe even no meals if cooking is not interesting to us. We can contribute in other ways to the home instead. In the ways we prefer. Shared living creates space and time so we can spend our time and focus on other tasks or simply relax and rejuvenate. Cleaning can be treated in a similar way and done in groups by the people that don’t. mind such work and are good at it. Doing thing together can make boring tasks more fun and exciting. There are social benefits as well. We are social animals and generally do better with other people to interact with.

Issues of shared Living
If living in community can be so great, why is it that so many of us have negative experiences from sharing homes with other people?
There seems to be issues in the kitchen, issues in the bathrooms, issues in the common spaces. The simple truth is, people are complicated and our world does not give us time to manage our affairs in a graceful and collected manner. When people are working 8 hours a day, how much time is left to cook a meal, to clean the kitchen, to organize the house, to do something enjoyable, to relax and rest? Not much. People are running around stressed out, on edge, scraping by economically, emotionally, mentally, physically. These circumstances lead to the problems we face in our home and relationships.

We are Not to Blame
If we are not to blame, who is?
Our present civilization is making a great mess of this beautiful world, through recourse extraction, manufacturing, transportation, consumption and disposal. Through wars and the insane use of technology to produce weapons of destruction and death. From our experience, all to often our homes reflect the shortsighted nature of our present civilization… We have dishes piled up, clothes sprawled throughout the home, dirty floors, stinky bathrooms and conflict between others living under the same roof.

ABCs Solution
Ascension Based Community Structures is working to create social constructs that address and eliminate the issues of shared living at the root. Constructs that work towards building living environments that are clean, safe and organized so we will have less stress and more time available for ourselves. ABCs understand that we are unique and not all of us are capable of shared living. However, we know that with a solid frame work shared living can be a feasible option for so many of us around the world.
